Edwina Tops-Alexander and California have come very close to winning the Grand Prix at Saut Hermès CSI5* for a second time when they finished in fifth place yesterday.

Edwina and her top mare won the event in 2017, and with a double clear on Sunday it was looking as though she could do it again. Unfortunately this year they weren’t quite quick enough to beat eventual winner Simon Delestre and Hermes Ryan. Fifth place in a strong field of 40 riders (of which 15 made the jump off) was still an amazing effort and Edwina is no doubt happy with the result!

Second place in the Grand Prix went to Christian Ahlmann and Dominator 2000 Z, third place went to Eduardo Alvarez Aznar and Seringat, and fourth went to Steve Guerdat and Alamo. The other ten combinations to contest the jump off all had at least one rail down.

Edwina also finished eighth in the Le Saut Hermès CSI5* and tenth in the Prix Hermès Sellier CSI5* with Veronese Teamjoy. In the Prix du Grand Palais CSI5*, Edwina and California enjoyed a good warm up for the main event, finishing ninth with just 1 time penalty to their name.

Congratulations Edwina!
