First FEI vaulting competition in Australia for 2022 to take place this weekend
The Vaulting NSW Summer Competition will take place this weekend at Sydney International Equestrian Centre, and is set to be the first FEI Vaulting competition in Australia for 2022!
The Individual Female event will be run as a CVI3*, meaning this competition will count as an FEI World Championships qualifier, allowing athletes an opportunity to obtain their Minimum Eligibility Requirement (MER).
Scores will not automatically count as an MER as they will be subject to a final review by an online supervisor appointed by the FEI Vaulting Technical Committee, in a similar way to how the Judges Supervisory Panel (JSP) confirmed results for the recent CDI dressage event at Boneo.
The supervisor will assess all performances of the athletes in the CVI3* who would like to use their results to count as MERs to confirm their eligibility. Results will be confirmed within 24 hours of the event conclusion.
The CVI3* class has been a coordinated effort between the VNSW committee, the EA High Performance Team and the Vaulting Selectors to allow the vaulters who hope to compete at the upcoming World Championships (previously WEG) to participate in a qualifying event here in Australia. Due to the concessions being made by the FEI for this event, it was not possible to run any other CVI classes at this particular competition – however a small national competition will be run concurrently for other competitors.
The event is also hosting a national ‘canter squad’ who are training for the World Championships, but do not require an MER.
VNSW hopes to run another CVI event in October with their National Championships.
