Furst Deluxe finds the perfect home

By Equestrian Life

He caught the hearts of Australia when partnering with Emma Booth at the 2022 World Championships earlier this year, and now Furst Deluxe is enjoying success with his new rider, Germany’s Greta Louise Wagner.

Australian Grand Prix rider Maree Tomkinson, who had owned and trained ‘Fursty’ since he was a three-year-old, said this week that her beloved horse has found the perfect home:

“One of the most emotionally challenging decisions we have to make as professional riders is finding the perfect time to let a horse go… for his sake… and then trying to find the perfect person for his life. It is a huge responsibility, especially when you have the horse from 3 years old and so much heart and love is poured into them.”

Fursty relocated to Germany with Maree early this year, and at his first outing caught the eye of a family — in particular their young daughter. As Maree said, it was “just a perfect fit”.

Promised to Emma Booth for her World Championship campaign, Fursty shone on the international para dressage stage. Now, he’s kicking goals in the arena with Greta in CDI Childrens classes — and later no doubt it will be CDI-J and CDI-Y classes.

“Fursty is a perfect soul,” said Maree. “Beautiful from the bottom of his heart all the way through and he so deserves the love of a little girl. To be the only horse and someone’s special deep soul horse.”

Greta and Fursty’s CDI-Ch (FEI) debut in September saw the pair win their CDI-Ch Preliminary test (77.875%) and CDI-Ch Team test (75.275%), as well as finish second in their CDI-Ch Individual test (71.403%). An amazing start to what will no doubt be a very successful partnership!
