Horses & Dreams meets Japan is underway at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen

Horses & Dreams meets Japan is underway at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen, with the non-spectator event attracting many of Europe’s top riders.

The Prix St Georges class on Wednesday was win by Denmark’s Nanna Skodborg Merrald and Blue Hors Farrell on 74.441%. Big name such as Patrik Kittell and Beatriz Ferrer-Salat filled second and third. And in fourth on 70.059%? Aussie Tayla Desmet and nine year old Oldenburger mare Zaubermaus (Zonik x Breitling)! Tayla trained with Maree Tomkinson here in Australia for many years before heading overseas at the end of 2019 with her mare to gain some international experience. She’s since been based at Hof Kasselmann (Zaubermaus was purchased via the PSI auctions) and also had a short stint in Wellington, Florida. Huge congratulations to Tayla on a wonderful result!

The qualification for the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal Cup was won by Helen Langehanenberg and Straight Horse Ascenzione on 75.512%. The German rider also finished second riding Schöne Scarlett to 74.171%. Sönke Rothenberger was third on 74.024% with Fendi 48.

In the CDI4* Grand Prix, it was Charlotte Dujardin and Gio who took the top honours, scoring 78.761%. Second went to Frederic Wandres and Duke of Britain on 75.957%, while Nanna Skodborg Merrald was third on Blue Hors Zack with 75.739%.

“Well what can I say! Pumpkin has just set Hagen alight today with a winning score of 78.76% in the CDI 4* Grand Prix, and I’m almost lost for words.

This very special horse tried his heart out and it was just such a lovely feeling to be back in the arena. He’s still so new to the high level and whilst I am delighted to win amongst such incredible riders that I respect enormously, it really is for me about celebrating my little Pumpkin and his courage today. So proud of him,” said Charlotte via social media following the win.

In the showjumping arena, Felix Haßmann and SL Brazonado won the CSI2* 1.30m and the CSI2* 1.35m, while Kristaps Neretnieks aboard Cerosino won the CSI2* 1.40m class.

Competition continues across the weekend. Full results can be found here.
