The introduction of mandatory microchipping of all horses will significantly improve equine welfare, according to RSPCA Victoria.

The animal cruelty prevention organisation has welcomed the call for a national horse traceability register after state and territory racing ministers unanimously voted in favour of the scheme at a conference in Perth on Friday.

“We believe the introduction of a national horse register will significantly improve equine welfare by enabling horses to be traced from birth to death and monitored as necessary,” RSPCA Victoria chief executive Dr Liz Walker said…
