Shenae Lowings & Bold Venture claim MI3DE CCI4*L

Shenae Lowings and off the track Thoroughbred Bold Venture have taken out the CCI4*L class at the Melbourne International Three-Day Event, finishing on a very impressive 25.3 penalties. The pair led throughout, adding just 0.4 of a showjumping time penalty to their dressage score of 24.9.
Second place went to Shane Rose and Easy Turn on 29.1, while NZ combination Monica Spencer and off the track Thoroughbred Artist filled third place on the podium with a score of 32.

The Australian Green Team claimed the Senior Oceania Championship (decided from the CCI4*L results), ahead of the Australian Gold Team and then the New Zealanders. In the Young Rider Oceania Championship (decided from the CCI3*L results), the New Zealanders came out on top to claim victory over the Aussies. In the CCI4*S, Shane Rose claimed first and second with Virgil (36.5) and Be My Daisy (50.4) respectively. Jessica Rae and Rascal finished third on 54.2.

The CCI3*L went to Charlotte Penny and Festival on 30.4, ahead of Kirilee Hosier and AEA Flynn with 35.1, and David Middleton riding WEC In The Breeze on 36.7.
The CCI2*L was won by Chelsea Priestley and Southern Sandro Stern on 27. Stuart Tinney was second with Viennese on 29.1, while Teegan Ashby and Magic Mushroom TAE (OTT) were third on 29.2. Molly Lines and Tadpole (OTT) won the CCI2*L Junior class on 28.9.

Australian Senior Green Team Win 2022 Oceania Championships and Young Rider Team Finish Second

The Australian Senior Green Team have ridden to victory at the 2022 Oceania Championships, hosted by Zeep Melbourne International 3 Day Event.
The competition culminated with the showjumping phase, seeing the Australian Green Team maintain their lead to win the overall Senior Championships on a score of 107.3. The Australian Senior Gold Team finished second on 111.9, followed by New Zealand with 125.6.

Australian Green Team members, Shane Rose on Easy Turn and Jessica Rae on Fifth Avenue, both jumped clear rounds in the final phase. Lauren Browne, riding Sky’s da Limit, knocked one rail, while Sam Jeffree and Woodmount Lolita decided not to start in the showjumping following yesterday’s cross-country effort.
Shenae Lowings and Bold Venture, members of the Australian Senior Gold Team, won the overall Pryde’s Easifeed CCI4*-L competition, marking the biggest win of the combination’s career to date.
The pair finished with a score of 25.3, adding no jumping penalties to their dressage score for the duration of the event, and just 0.4 time in the showjumping phase.
When asked how the win feels, Shenae said the moment seems surreal but that her focus is now firmly on selection for the upcoming FEI World Championships, set to take place in Italy later this year, with a move overseas planned to boost her campaign.
“I am extremely excited. I feel like there is still so much hard work to come and that this was the easy bit. I have got my World Championship qualification and I am just really looking forward to what the future holds and what we have planned over the next few months,” said Shenae.
Following a very influential showjumping phase, the Australian Young Rider Team finished in second place on 157.5 points, behind Team New Zealand on 139.0 points, in the Oceania Championship competition.
Australia started the showjumping phase with a team of three after Edward Darby and Dawn of the Day elected not to present to the Ground Jury this morning. The David Sheppard (AUS) designed track proved tough in the Furphy Media CCI3*-L, with some unexpected difficulties for the Australian Young Rider Team.
The highest placed Australian Young Rider was Riley Lyall, riding his off the track Thoroughbred GI War Machine, finishing in 10th position.
Australian Young Rider Team Chef d’Equipe, Andrew Barnett, said all members of the Team represented Australia admirably and that the future of Australian Eventing is bright.
“It has been a fantastic experience for all of them. They have all worked extremely hard, and really well as a team. We have experienced the highs and lows of being a Team, with Edward not being able to trot-up this morning. It all got very close in the end, but it didn’t go our way today. I think the experience these guys have had is fantastic and they are going to improve on their riding and come back stronger”.
