With just 12 months until the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, domestic and international competition is ramping up. Australia has qualified for the showjumping thanks to the extraordinary team of riders who secured our spot while competing at the World Equestrian Games held in Tyron.
Competition is as fierce as ever, with the 2019-2020 Australian World Cup League kicking off at The Greg Grant Festival of Showjumping! The event is being hosted at the impressive Queensland State Equestrian Centre, welcoming over 530 horses from around Australia.
The competition is run over 3 days from Friday 26th – Sunday 28th July, with the feature event being the Caboolture World Cup at 5pm on Saturday 27th July. Entry for spectators is free and encouraged, all weekend.
NSW rider Clint Beresford will be defending his 2018 win, as well as Billy Raymont who was a member of Australia’s successful WEG show Jumping team will be hoping to take the title once again, having won the event in 2017. 32 Australia’s best horse and rider combinations will battle it out in the hope of winning this prestigious event and getting some early points onto the leader-board.
The 2020 Olympic Australian Jumping Team have yet to be selected and the World Cup qualifying events are essential to the selection process with riders looking to obtain a ‘Minimum Eligibility Requirement’ at the Australian World Cup series.
