Aussie jumping success in Europe

By Equestrian Life

It’s not just in the US where Australian show jumpers are currently making international waves — Gabrielle Chugg and Billy Raymont have also been flying our flag with success in Europe!

Gabi and Cera Cassiago finished seventh of nearly 40 combinations in the CSI4* 1.60m Grand Prix at Groß Viegeln in Germany over the weekend, only narrowly missing the jump off after jumping clear but recording two time faults in the first round.

Gabi paid tribute to the horse via social media following their success: “Still buzzing from our clear jumping in the 1.60m GP at CSI4* Groß Viegeln to place 7th. Being one of only 7 clear jumping rounds. The most thanks of all to my wonderful horse… he gives me everything he has, challenges me to ride better every round and never stops trying, he has a heart as big as himself and is brave as a lion.”

Billy and Caprino enjoyed a great weekend at Sentower Park in Belgium, claiming victory in the CSI3* Table A Against the Clock 1.35m class and placing fifth in a CSI3* Two Phase 1.40m class where they jumped a double clear.

Caprino, formerly ridden by Caitlin Bolger in Australia, is a rising ten year old gelding  owned by Jacinta Kinsella. Towards the end of April, Billy left for Europe with three horses: “We are currently based in Weert, Netherlands with our own Allwynds Valherro, Janelle Whalley and Darren Wilson’s Black Jack IXE and a new addition to the team, Caprino, owned by Jacinta Kinsella. We were lucky enough to secure this talented boy just before our trip, thanks to Caitlin Bolger for the opportunity.”

Congratulations Gabi and Billy!
