Australian eventers were in action over the weekend at Millstreet Horse Trials in Ireland, with Bill Levett and Sligo Candy Cane finishing a fantastic fifth in the CCI4*L class.
The pair were 19th after the dressage on 32.9, but produced a double clear in the jumping phases — adding just .8 of a cross country time fault to finish on 33.7.
Sligo Candy Cane is an 8-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding by Sligo Candy Boy out of Castlemly Lass (Visa Aldatus Z) owned by Elizabeth Murdoch in partnership with Bill.
“You always go into these competitions when the horse is new to the level with some questions, and suffice to say ‘Floss’ answered all my questions with a big tick. He now needs a nice break as he has had a busy spring,” said Bill via social media following the event.
Clayton Fredericks and FE Coldplay were ninth on 38.7, Hazel Shannon and WillingaPark Clifford were 13th on 44.6, and Kevin McNab with Willunga were 16th on 49.2.
The class was won by Great Britain’s in-form Laura Collett riding Dacapo, with the pair finishing on 26.7.
