Barastoc Junior Squad: Meet Tahni Jordan

In August 2016, Barastoc launched the Barastoc Junior Squad program to riding enthusiasts aged 13 – 18 who are passionate about riding.

The Barastoc Junior Squad aims to teach, inspire and guide young equine enthusiasts. The squad program assists young riders in gaining the experience needed to support a commercial sponsorship in adulthood, if it is desired or needed, as well as provide a solid understanding of feeding their horses. Each year Barastoc welcomes 20-30 new young riders to be part of the team.

Here, we catch up with young rider Tahni Jordan…

“My name is Tahni Jordan and am proudly sponsored by Barastoc Horse. I currently have four horses who are all fed Barastoc feed, and I couldn’t recommend it more! Thanks to the amazing team at Barastoc we have been able to create the perfect diet for each of my horses, they are all looking and performing amazing.

“Being a part of the Barastoc Junior Squad has presented me with so many incredible opportunities and I have learnt so much. I love the monthly room chats that we have where we get to listen and learn from all different equine professionals. I am so grateful for all the effort Barastoc goes to for the Junior Squad and to organise different opportunities for us, such as this one. Thank you go Barastoc and Equestrian Life for this opportunity.

“My three competition horses are Kevejon (Kevin), Suns Out Guns Out (Pistol) and Paint It Perfect (Rocky). I compete in Pony Club and EA show jumping, eventing, and sporting with them. They each have something different and special about them, and all have taught me so many different things about riding. They all have such fun personalities, and I enjoy riding and competing each of them.

“This year I hope to progress up the levels in showjumping and eventing and start competing at some bigger competitions. I look forward to continuing Pistol’s education and working with him.

“My biggest supporters are my family; my Dad is the one who helps me the most with my horses and takes me to all my competitions. I greatly appreciate all that my parents do for my horses and I.

“My advice to other riders is to work hard towards your dreams, be persistent, take every opportunity you can get and also make as many connections with judges, trainers and other riders as you can.”
