Boyd Exell and Tor Van Den Berge enjoy success
By Equestrian Life
Australian driving star Boyd Exell has won a Four In Hand driving event at PSG Lähden in northwest Germany.
Boyd won the class on a total score of 117.89, with his team comprising of Checkmate 9, Celviro, Ivor 16 and Jalmer HBG.
“A great way to dust off the cobwebs competing at PSG Lähden this weekend. Thank you to the organising committee who co-ordinated a great competition and in exceptional heat and circumstances. We are pleased with the team who enjoyed getting out and about again!” said Boyd via Facebook following the event.
Fellow Australian driver Tor Van Den Berge also competed at the event, marking his first Four In Hand competition. Tor finished seventh on 143.32, an amazing effort for this first event. An accomplished dressage rider, Tor has competed in pairs driving events over the past year or two.
“Home from our first competition ever as a Four-in-Hand Team and couldn’t be prouder. So privileged to have such wonderful horses owned by Owen and Janet Pilling and Ross and Miriam Carbery… can’t thank you enough for this amazing opportunity. The boys and girls worked beautifully together. We were 3rd in the dressage, 11th in the Marathon, 5th in the cones so ended up 7th overall in a strong field. Thanks to back stepper Ludo for doing a great job on the carriage for his first competition in this sport! Thanks to our massive support crew here, in Scotland, England, South Africa, America and of course Australia and a massive thank you to Boyd Exell for all your help and guidance….. you are a true master of the sport,” said Tor via Facebook following the event.
Congratulations Boyd and Tor on fantastic results!
