Boyd Exell leads ‘Prize of Family Richard Talbot’ at Aachen

Saturday was Marathon day for the four-in-hand drivers in the ‘Prize of Schwartz Group’!

Australian Boyd Exell and his team finished in second place, which was enough to see them move into the top spot in the overall individual Combined Driving standings for the ‘Prize of Family Richard Talbot’. The overall rankings take into account Thursday’s dressage and Saturday’s Marathon, with the winner decided following Sunday’s Obstacle Driving.

Michael Brauchle and his team of horses were the fastest in the for the fifth time in the Marathon phase, finishing with 105.45 penalties, only narrowly finishing ahead of Boyd who collected 106.46 penalties. Third place went to the Dutch driver, Koos de Ronde on a score of 111.32 penalties.

Australian teammate Tor van den Berge finished 19th in the Marathon, bringing them to 15th overall.

Combining Boyd and Tor’s scores overall scores, Australia is currently running third in the team Combined Driving standings for the Nations Cup.

Today we look forward to the final phase of the Combined Driving competition, the Obstacle Driving Competition with Winning Round, which begins at 10am CEST (6pm AEST). Tor and his team are 11th on the start list and Boyd and his team will be the final competitors to take to the stadium. You can tune into the livestream here.
