Celebrating the Royal Melbourne Show Online this September!

The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) is pleased to announce an exciting program of virtual activities to celebrate the Royal Melbourne Show online this September.

Since announcing earlier this year the cancellation of the 2020 Royal Melbourne Show due to the COVID-19 health crisis, the RASV has remained committed to celebrating the things Victorians love about the Royal Melbourne Show.

The ‘Celebrating the Show Online’ program will run from 19-29 September on Royal Melbourne Show social media and digital platforms. The program of online content and activities will include themed days, profiles of farmers and agricultural experts, live farm-cam, videos, competitions, memorable moments from past Shows and much more.

Excited about celebrating the Royal Melbourne Show online, RASV CEO Brad Jenkins is looking forward to keeping the spirit of the Show alive during September this year.

“The Royal Melbourne Show is much-loved by Victorians and whilst Victorians are unable to attend this year, we have created an exciting program of online content for people of all ages to enjoy and to keep the spirit of the Show alive,” said Mr Jenkins.

“The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria relies on hundreds of volunteers and exhibitors to successfully present the Royal Melbourne Show and this year as part of the Show online program we will celebrate and acknowledge some of the volunteers and exhibitors that help bring Victoria’s largest and most iconic community event to life.”

The RASV has proudly presented the Royal Melbourne Show since 1855 and prior to this year, it had only been called off on two occasions in its 165-year history. First, when Melbourne Showgrounds was requisitioned for the war effort in 1915 and again in WWII between 1940-1945.

“During these extraordinary times we invite all Victorians to have some fun and celebrate the Royal Melbourne Show online this year. There’s something for all ages to enjoy from live farm-cam, interviews, videos, photos from past Shows to theme days and even a mask making competition with great prizes to be won,” said Mr Jenkins.

“We look forward to bringing everyone together to celebrate the Royal Melbourne Show when it returns bigger and better in 2021 from Thursday 23 September to Sunday 3 October at Melbourne Showgrounds,” Jenkins concluded.

The ‘Celebrating the Show Online’ campaign will be featured on Royal Melbourne Show social media and digital platforms. Tune in daily to see new competitions, memorable photos, interviews and fantastic giveaways from some of our sponsors. ‘Celebrating the Show Online’ will run from 19-29 September.

Further details of the exciting 11-day program of content will be released over the next two weeks. Stay tuned for more information to be published on the RASV and Royal Melbourne Show social media and digital platforms.
