The second day of the prestigious PSI Dressage & Jumping with the Stars called for excellence, and the riders and horses stepped up to the challenge. In the FEI Dressage World Cup Short Grand Prix, Mary Hanna showed just why she is still the reigning Australian dressage queen after many years in the ring. Mary and Syriana floated their way around the arena to victory on 71.316%. Following behind in second place was Jayden Brown and Sky Diamond on 68.684%. A very close competition for third and fourth place saw Michelle Baker and Bradgate Park Puccini just edge out Sheridyn Ashwood on Fererro Chocolate Box, with the combinations scoring respectively 67.974% and 67.342%. Lindsey Ware and Aristede took out fifth place on 66.974%, and Paulina Carnovale finished on sixth place on Captain Cooks on 65.605%.

Jayden Brown has continued to dominate the dressage scene with another win in the Prix St Georges Cup Inter I Freestyle. The familiar combination of Jayden and WillingaPark Quincy B took out the top place with 76.617%. In second place was Robbie McKinnon and Silmarillion E on 72.842%, while equal third place went to Alexis Hellyer on Valhalla I and Serena Ireland on Royalty R with 71.092%. Alexis Hellyer also placed fifth with Daenarys on 70.800%, and Georgina Foot on Zoe rounded out to the top 6 on 69.758%.

Young Dressage Horses

The final round for 7 Year Old Young Dressage Horses went to yesterday’s round one winner, WillingaPark Fangio and Jayden Brown. The pair scored 76.529% to win the 7YO Championship.

The Commanded Test for 5 Year Old Young Dressage Horses (round one) went to another star ridden by Jayden Brown – the lovely WillingaPark Miana. The mare, who was originally purchased as a broodmare, scored 85.2%.

The final round for 4 Year Old Young Dressage Horses went to Emma Hayward and JMH Frankly with a convincing win on 86.600%. In second place, Janet Seccull and Bloomfield Valentini scored 82.200%, and third place went to Sydney Evans and U Beauty Queen on 78.400%.

The first round of the Commanded Test for 6 Year Old Young Dressage Horses saw a close competition for the first three places. Robbie McKinnon came out on top in first place with SPH Fortino on 89.800%. Second place went to Matthew Lord and Carool Charmer on 88.400%, followed by Alexis Hellyer and Fidibus in third place on 87.000%.

The consolation class for the 4 Year Old Young Dressage Horses went to Diaz, ridden by Elliot Patterson to a score of 80.6%.

Young Dressage Ponies

In the pony classes, the final rounds took place today to decide age champions. The 6 Year Old Young Dressage Pony was won by Brookside Shazam and Annie Creed on 77.4%; the 4 Year Old Young Dressage Pony went to Caitlyn Porter and Mr Right Now on 78%; and the 5 Year Old Young Dressage Pony went to Brookside Grand Illusion and Leisha Salter (AOR) on 80.2%.

The Dressage Pony Champion of Champions went to Brookside Shazam, ridden by Annie Creed.

The consolation class for 5 Year Old Young Dressage Ponies went to Revelwood Noble Admiration, ridden by Hayley Rumbold.

Young riders

Today also saw round one of the prestigious Aachen Challenge; the class went to Victorian Jessica Dertell and Eskara De Jeu, with the pair scoring 70.885%. The final – where the top three will compete for a chance to win a ticket to CHIO Aachen – will take place tomorrow. Joining Jessica in the final will be Serena Ireland and Royalty R, and Sydney Evans with Fairbanks Don Ruben.

And in the Children’s CDI Preliminary test, Annabel Shoobridge celebrated a big win on Noble Dancer with 78.125% to top the class.

Jumping

Things were heating up by this afternoon with the FEI Jumping World Cup Qualifier bringing the best in Australian Jumping head to head. However, it was Billy Raymont who reigned supreme after the second round, finishing a clear round in 58.67 seconds on Black Jack Ixe. Taking out second place was Samuel Overton clear on Oaks Cassanova 60.61 seconds. Also finishing with clear rounds in third and fourth places were Olivia Hamood on Jane Fonda DVD and Andrew Lamb on Denison Park Spartava. Amber Fuller and Nopal Van Tallaert also finished clear in 63.44 seconds to finish fifth out of the big field of 30 riders. Sixth place went to Aaron Hadlow and Vahlinvader who finished the second round in 58.39 seconds, but the combination also had a rail down resulting in 4 penalties.  

Round two of the 4 Year Old Young Jumping Horse went to Condor, ridden by James Paterson-Robinson. The pair scored 86% to, just pipping round one winners Yandoo Evergreen and Jamie Winning-Kermond. Round two of the 5 Year Old Young Jumping Horse went to Jon Snow, ridden by Josh Collins to 89.666%. Yesterday’s round one winners, Yalambi’s Messiah and Caitlin Bolger, were second on 88.166%.

In the second round of the 6 Year Old Young Jumping Horse, James Harvey took out first place on Yirrkala Celeste.

And round two of the 7 Year Old Young Jumping Horse was won by Olivia Hamood and Diamond B Bedazzled.

The four Championship winners will compete for the Champion of Champions title on  Saturday.

The Current Stars class went to Russell Morrison and CE Cajun.
