Vassily de Lassos nominated for Equiratings Horse of the Year Award
Andrew Hoy’s Tokyo Olympic horse, Vassily de Lassos, has been nominated for the Equiratings Horse of the Year Award for 2021. He is one of only seven horses worldwide being nominated and the only horse representing Australia in the competition.
“This is Vassily’s third nomination in this ‘Horse of the Year‘ competition and with his extraordinary consistency over his whole career and the incredible year he had in 2021 with winning Team Silver and Individual Bronze at the Tokyo Olympics – we feel he truly deserves this Award,” said Andrew Hoy. “It would be a great recognition for this outstanding horse and all of his connections as well as my fantastic team at the yard.”

Vassily de Lassos, owned by Paula and David Evans, sits alongside six other elite horses to be nominated: On Cue, Amande de B’Neville, JL Dublin, Toledo de Kerser, FischerChipmunk and Scrabble OLD.
The Award will be given purely on counting the public vote – so the Australian Sporting Community needs to get behind Vassily!
Voting for the competition is open NOW and closes on Sunday, 19th December – with the winner being announced on Monday, 20th December.
