Edwina Tops-Alexander set for GCL Super Cup in Prague

By Equestrian Life

The Global Champions Prague Playoffs begin this Thursday (18-21 November) with the world’s best riders and teams going into combat in the Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix and the GCL Super Cup.

Australian Edwina-Tops-Alexander will compete as part of team Valkenswaard United in the GCL Super Cup.

GCL teams start on a clean sheet for the €6 million GCL Super Cup and it’s a chance for the teams to hit the reset button and have one last opportunity in 2021 to make a statement. Teams can bring up to four riders with three riders competing in every round and no drop scores; the format will include knockout quarter and semi-final stages, as excitement builds for the final on Sunday.

As Valkenswaard United were the 2020/21 GCL Championship winners, they will go straight through to the semi finals on Friday.

“I am incredibly excited about this week with the GC Prague Playoffs and the GCL Super Cup kicking off on Thursday!” said Edwina.

“It’s been a fantastic season for our team being crowned the 2020/21 GCL Championship winners.

“With four team riders in Prague this year, and with only one – Peder Fredricson – jumping the LGCT Super Grand Prix, we have the advantage of focusing primarily on the Super League. Still, with no drop scores, everything can happen!”
