Elisabeth Halliday-Sharp wins first US CCI4*S since Covid-19
By Equestrian Life
International eventing action has returned to the US for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic. MARS Great Meadows International, held at The Plains in Virginia, featured classes up to CCI4*S level.
Elisabeth Halliday-Sharp won the 4*, finishing on her dressage score of 24.2 with Deniro Z. William Coleman and Off The Record were second on 25.9, with Erin Kanara and Paddy The Caddy in third on 28.1
Australian NEXT squad member Ema Klugman finished in 24th place from nearly 70 combinations with 18-year-old Bendigo. The pair scored 41.8 in the dressage, before going clear and under time in both jumping phases.
“Ben was 11 when we bought him, and had never done an event. At 18, he was one of five (out of 70 horses) to make the time today. The old man doesn’t think age is much more than a number I think!” said Ema via Facebook following the cross country phase.
Well done Ema!

Fellow Aussie Clayton Fredericks was 10th after the dressage and 19th after the showjumping on FE Coldplay in the 4*, however the pair unfortunately had to retire during the cross country phase.
Clayton finished ninth in the Preliminary class with FE Mustang Sally, adding just a handful of cross country time penalties to his dressage score to finish on 46.8.
