Back in its sixth year, Equestrian in the Park is just around the corner! The event is on 30th of November and boasts a first-class field, including international competitors and a number of highly ranked Olympians. This one-day spectacular showcases Eventing and Show Jumping and is a top social event!
Recently, the event has welcomed the introduction of the WA Racehorse Welfare Plan, which aims to help safeguard the wellbeing of horses in the state when their racing careers end.
Eventing in the Park is an amazing example of how successful thoroughbreds and standardbreds can be post-racing. From around 100 competitors, almost 70 per cent of the horses in action are former racehorses!
The 2018 winner, Sir Mark Todd, rode to victory on an off the track thoroughbred by the name of The Diamond Thief, so ex-racehorses have precedent for success at the event — as they do on across the broader sport of eventing.
Equestrian in the Park is an elite competition and will be staged by the Swan River in McCallum Park, Victoria Park. There are two classes, the Grand Prix class and the Diamond class, with both including a combination of showjumping and cross country (no dressage). For spectators, it’s all about fast-paced action and a great day out!
