VRC have been working in collaboration with Racing Victoria & Country Racing Victoria’s on a unified approach  to equine bushfire relief.

While financial donations are priority, physical donations are still also required. Racing Victoria has assessed the current situation and identified some immediate needs for our equine community in crisis. These are:

  • Bags of horse feed
  • Feed bins
  • Feed Storage bins with lids
  • Electrolytes
  • Temporary fencing solutions e.g. portable electric fencing systems
  • Medical supplies (Vet wrap, Elastoplast, Animalintex, Cotton wool, Ointments etc.)

Over the next two race days, Saturday 11th January and Saturday 18th January, Australian Trainers Association, Ascot Saddlery and Southern Cross Feeds will have pop-up stores on course where racegoers can purchase supplies that will then be donated to the equine community in fire affected areas.

We will also be receiving donations of horse equipment, of all sizes, such as head collars, leads and rugs so if you have any surplus or unused equipment you don’t need please bring it along on Saturday 11th or Saturday 18th January. All equipment donated must be in good working condition.

Donations can also be dropped off at VRC Head Office during business hours.

Any assistance you can provide will be much appreciated.
