The 1993 born Oldenburg gelding Escapado, known fondly as ‘Peanuts’, (by Ex Libris x Ikarus x Sternjaeger xx) has sadly passed away. Escapado was instrumental to both Hester’s and Minderhoud’s Grand Prix career.

Together, Hester and Escapado placed 13th at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, and finished fifth individually at the 2005 European Championships in Hagen, Germany. Escapado was then purchased by Dutch based team, Exquis, and was then ridden by Hans Peter Minderhoud.

Escapado continued to shine with Minderhoud, with the duo finishing second in the CDI Grand Prix at Aachen and winning the CDI Kur, in 2009.

Escapado was retired from competition in 2011, and moved back to Herster’s yard in England. The Oldenburg gelding lived out his retirement years with two shetland ponies, who he adored.
