Eventers flock to Tamworth this weekend
By Equestrian Life
The Australian eventing season is well and truly underway, with all eyes on Tamworth this weekend for the Tamworth International One-Day Event.
Held over Saturday and Sunday, the event is headlined by the CCI4*S class – but caters to all levels, starting from EvA45.
The CCI4*S features a 25-strong field that boasts the likes of Tokyo silver medallists Shane Rose and Virgil, fellow Olympians Heath Ryan and Stuart Tinney, and a swathe of other names synonymous with elite level eventing in Australia.
Last year’s winners, Hazel Shannon and WillingaPark Clifford, will however not be in attendance as they are now based in the UK as they prepare for a tilt at Badminton in May. In recent years, the pair have been virtually unbeatable in Tamworth’s CCI4*S class.
The event will also pause to remember super groom and much-loved member of the eventing community, Rachel Watts, who tragically passed away following a car accident last weekend. Arm bands will be available to all at the event in a show of support for Rachel’s family and friends, while a minute’s silence is planned following the four-star showjumping in remembrance and recognition of Rachel.
Live results will be available via Nominate and you can view the draw here.
