Germany has named its dressage team for next month’s World Equestrian Games in Tryon, USA.

The team has been selected by the dressage selection committee of the German Olympic Equestrian Federation, which is overseen by Klaus Roeser.

The team is:

Isabell Werth has two reserve horses in Weihegold OLD and Emilio, while Jessica von Bredow-Werndl has Zaire E as her reserve. If either of the other combinations drops out, the reserve combination is Helen Langehanenberg and Damsey.

There is some surprise that Isabell has been named on Bella Rose rather than the more consistent, higher scoring Weihegold. Bella Rose has only recently returned to competition after a number of years off through injury. Helen Langehanenberg has also been scoring higher than Dorothee Schneider and Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, so her being named as reserve rider can as a surprise to many.
