Hazel Shannon and WillingaPark Clifford have again dominated in the Oz Shotz CCI4*-S class at Tamworth International Eventing.
This is the seventh time the combination has won the 4*in Tamworth, firmly cementing their names as serious future Olympic contenders.
Entries for the event were high this year, with more than 400 riders and horses taking to the field at Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre over the weekend.
Following behind Hazel and WillingaPark Clifford’s 34.00 point win were Matthew Gaske and Bellhaven Cumbria with a score of 40.40. Coming in third with a score of 53.20 was Sam Lyle and BF Valour who won the won the 4* in Sydney last month. Andrew Cooper took out two places in the top six with Omega Star in fourth on 57.30 points and Tasman Park Ovation in fifth on 58.50 points. Rounding out the top six riders in the 4* was Olivia Barton and APH Andre on 62.00 points.
The cross country course proved to be a challenge for even the highly experienced riders with a massive 13 out of the 22 riders in the 4* either being eliminated or withdrawing during the final phase.
Going home with an impressive win the in Southern Steele CCI3*-S after a clear showjumping round was Andrew Cooper and Manhattan with a low 38.50 points. Brooke Dougall and My Locky finished strongly in second with 42.10 points, and close beyond in third was Jessica Rae and Fifth Avenue with a score of 42.90.
