Australian eventer Isabel English has announced her former 5 star eventing partner Feldale Mouse will be retired after years of success overseas.

Together, Isabel and Mouse shared a fairy tale partnership that took them from Pony Club gymkhanas in Queensland to riding some of the biggest competitions in Europe.

Standing at only 15.3hh, the little Connemara x TB gelding defied the odds when he and Isabel rode on the Australian Nations Cup team at CHIO Aachen.

Although he may be ‘mouse-sized’ compared to most eventers, Mouse has the heart of a lion and even took on the formidable fences at Badminton, Burghley and Pau.

Now at 19-years-old, Isabel has decided to retire her former pony-club-turned-international superstar while he is sound and happy.

In a post on her Facebook page, Isabel said, “You have shaped my life for the last 14 years and I couldn’t have asked for a better friend.

“I’ll miss you but I’m so happy that you can retire sound and healthy. Hopefully we can get you back to Australian soil to live out your days in the sun- keeping Mum and Dad company”.
