By Equestrian Life
Australian dressage combination Kristy Oatley and Du Soleil were back in action at their first CDI since May, competing in Zakrzów, Poland, over the weekend.
The pair had a fabulous show, finishing fifth from 22 combinations in the CDI-W Short Grand Prix on a score of 70.710%. The class was won by Poland’s Christian Schumach and Te Quiero SF on 72.342%, with only 3% separating the top nine horses.
In the CDI-W Freestyle, Kristy and Du Soleil finished on the podium, scoring a huge 77.575% to place second behind Olympic gold medallist Jessica Von Bredow-Werndl and Ferdinand BB on 78.780%. Kristy and Du Soleil’s personal best CDI Freestyle score is 79.330%, which they set in Austria in 2018.
Kristy’s daughter, Rose Oatley — who rides for Germany — also had a very successful show, winning five of six tests on two different horses. Rose won the CDI Pony Team Test and Individual Test with Herzkoenig NRW on scores of 75.143% and 73.784%, and was also second in the Freestyle on 73.883%.
In the CDI Junior classes, the 14-year-old won the Team Test, Individual Test and Freestyle with Rock Revolution on scores of 74.697%, 74.216% and 76.983% respectively.
Congratulations Kristy and Rose!
