Day one of the 2020 Homes & Acreage Boneo Classic saw plenty of action across dressage, para dressage and jumping. Rain that blanketed the Morning Peninsula yesterday cleared to an overcast yet pleasant day, with any water remaining quickly absorbed by the venue’s manicured green lawns!
Dressage
In the dressage arena, the main class of the day was the Grand Prix CDI3*, a Tokyo selection event and thus attracting a field of 14 serious combinations. Mary Hanna and Syriana took out the class with a big score of 70.717%, from Lone Joergensen and Corinna on 70.109%. Mary also finished third on Calanta with 69.739%. All three scores contribute towards qualifying for consideration for the Australian team for the Tokyo Olympics.
Fourth place went to NZ’s John Thompson and the very impressive JHT Chemistry. At just 8 years old, this horse is certainly one for the future; they scored 69.326%.
Other major winners for the day included Ava Braniff and Allengreen Medalist in the CDI-Pony Team Test (66.333%); Olivia Gillespie and Versace I in the CDI-Junior Team Test (68.131%); Charlie Welsh and Horizonte de Jeu in the CDI-Young Rider Team Test (68.775%); Lindset Ware and Aristede in the Inter II CDI-U25 (70.588%); Abbie O’Brien and Magnus Spero in the Inter II CDN (67.206%); and Holly Leach on HP Fresco in the PSG CDN (69.265%).
