Matt Williams & Rowan Willis enjoy success at Tryon Spring Series

Australian showjumpers Matt Williams and Rowan Willis have both enjoyed a great week of competition at the fifth leg of the Tryon Spring Series (1-5 June), held at Tryon International Equestrian Center in North Carolina, USA.
Matt rode FR Yandoo Pennsylvania, a 2012 Australian-bred mare that he owns in partnership with Brigio Williams, to win the FEI CSI3* $2,000 Power & Speed Stake class with a speed phase time of 29.744 seconds. Thirty entries navigated the power phase of the track set by Anthony D’Ambrosio (USA) with 17 horse-and-rider pairs continuing on to the speed phase of the course.

Rowan Willis and Wellington Grey Goose continued their fabulous form to finish third in the FEI CSI3* $37,000 Power & Speed Stakes. Rowan and his own 2011 British-bred mare completed the Anthony D’Ambrosio (USA) designed course to finish with a time of 25.893 seconds.
Canadian Erynn Ballard (CAN) and Bettina des Celtes won the class.

Rowan placed in the FEI CSI3* $137,000 Cleghorn Gun Club Grand Prix, finishing tenth with Ashton Dakota, a 2008 British Sport Horse gelding (Lupicor H x Corofino I), and also finsihed sixth in the $6,000 FEI Speed Stake 1.45 Art 238.2.1 riding Ekita Eindeken Z.
Another Australian, Lauren Balcomb, placed in the $2000 1.30m Open Jumper Stakes. Riding her own Billy Clairet, Lauren produced a double clear to finish in fourth place.
