Megan Jones claims first FEI four-star of the year at Ballarat
By Equestrian Life
The ZEEP Summer Horse Trials took place at Ballarat last weekend, signalling the start of the 2022 international eventing season in Australia.
The CCI4*S went to Megan Jones and RLE Barina, who finished on a total of 44.8. The pair were in fourth place on 34 penalties following the dressage, were clear in the showjumping, and had just 10.8 cross country time penalties to secure their first FEI four-star win as a combination.
“This horse has challenged every part of my knowledge and then taught me a heap as well,” said Megan via social media following the win. “She will never not be a challenge and the day that happens I’ll be taking her temperature as she’s probably sick! A huge thank you to her loyal owner who never questions what my next move might be with her.”
Second place went to Murray Lamperd and OTT Secret Mojo on 47.1, while Sam Jeffree and Woodmount Lolita were third on 51.3. Next came Sarah Clark and LV Balou Jeans on 53.7, with Heath Ryan and Bronze Boy R rounding out the top five on 54.1.
The CCI3*S went to Yona Lloyd and Ballahowe Ayurvedic on 43.8, while the CCI2*S went to Mollie Kennedy and Lavender Rise Ferghus on 30.3.
