Rising dressage star joins Team MITAVITE

One of the young rising stars of the dressage world in Australia, nineteen-year-old Kodi Tupper, has recently joined Team MITAVITE.
With one of her latest wins being her Freestyle class at the Sydney CD-Lite earlier this year, Kodi has big dreams for her future with her horses and the equestrian feed brand.
So far, Kodi’s riding has taken her across the globe, but just like every other little horse-obsessed girl, she started out being lead around an arena on a pony.
“I started riding when I was around four or five years old and I did riding lessons at Centennial Park in Sydney,” Kodi says. “And then when I was nine years old, we moved to Hong Kong and I was there for seven years. I was riding ex-racehorses over there, which was a very different experience to my dressage warmbloods.
“I got on the Hong Kong Young Riders Squad over there for dressage, and I got to travel a bit with them to Germany. I came back to Australia when I was around sixteen and decided to focus on dressage and brought my first warmblood. I started out in Novice and now I’m competing at Inter I.
“I was lucky enough to be one of the three New South Wales Young Riders who got selected to go to New Zealand in January 2020. We rode loaned horses and that was a really fun experience. And I think we got one of the last flights back into Australia before Covid really took off!”
Kodi’s current main horse is a twelve-year-old warmblood called Duke. Standing at 17.2hh, Kodi describes Duke as massive. “I’ve had him for just over two years now,” she says. “He was competing probably at Prix St Georges, and so I’ve just been learning from him because I haven’t competed that level. We’re training for Medium Tour now and hopefully I’ll get to Grand Prix with him.

“I’ve got two other young horses at the moment, so I’m currently training them up. They’re both very different. And it’s a great experience to be working with different horses and learning from them. I’d like to take them out to some competitions as well, when everything opens up, hopefully soon.”
Along her equestrian journey, Kodi has used the MITAVITE range to fuel her success. “We’ve been using MITAVITE since we first had horses,” explains Kodi. “In Hong Kong, we had stock horses on the property that we would feed MITAVITE to. When the opportunity came that I could work with them, I was so excited because we’re so happy with the condition of our horses.
“When I became part of the team, I got a session with the nutritionist. We went through all my horses and talked about their feed and work levels and discussed whether we want more energy or what we want to do with them. Like with Duke, he’s stepping up, so we need to increase his energy levels for his passage work as we get closer to that Grand Prix level.
“I’m so happy I get to have those resources to help me get my horses to the best they can be. I’d like to continue riding and having some nice horses that we can compete in Australia. And if the opportunity comes up that I get to compete internationally, that would be amazing. And I do have six years left in the Under 25 Grand Prix, so plenty of time to get it right.”
