Rozzie Ryan wins Grand Prix CDI-WLF and CDI3* at the Boneo Classic

It was a lovely day at the 2019 Boneo Classic with clear skies, warm sun and cool breeze – a welcome change for competitors after Friday’s heat!

The main class of the day, the Grand Prix CDI-WLF, saw Rozzie Ryan and the much-improved Jarrah R win with a score of 67.543%. The pair produced an energetic test that showed an improvement in a number of areas – the extended trot is gaining ground and cadence, as are the flying changes. “This horse continues to improve every start with the ever persistent, harmonious ride of international Australian representative Rozzie Ryan,” says Roger Fitzhardinge.

Second place went to Olympians Sue Hearn and Remmington on 66.522%, while third went to Gitte Donvig and Sancette on 65.348%. In fourth and fifth were Dirk Dijkstra and AEA Metallic, and Holly Cutler on Diva Royale with 63.152% and 60.5% respectively.

The Grand Prix CDI3* class saw a double for Rozzie Ryan, this time winning with Adonie on 66.305%. Second went to the talented Amicelli Gold for Lesley Anne Taylor on 65.826%, third to Pauline Carnovale and Captain Cooks on 63.370%, and fourth to Sheridyn Ashwood on Fererro Chocolate Box on 62.326%.

The Grand Prix CDN saw some well-known riders in action. This class was all Maree Tomkinson in the end, with the Victorian taking out first place on Donna Elena with 67.370% and second place with Starlight on 63.543%.

The Intermediate I saw 12 combinations in action, with Brett Parbery and Sky Diamond winning on a score of 72.843%, from Clare Porz and Deejay on 68.873%. 

“As always, Brett was fluent and consistent without any mistakes,” says Roger Fitzhardinge.

Third place went to Abbie O’Brien and Rajah’s Rave on 68.480%. Next came Georgia Widdup and Jaybee Alexander (66.961%), Mary Nitschke on Utopian Cardinal (65.098%), Sheridyn Ashwood and Ashwoods Chocolate Fondue (64.559%), Sue West and Balzac (64.461%), Kerry Mack and Mayfield Limelight (64.216%), Natasha Althoff and Wessel (63.186%), Louise Maguire and Mithril Vagabond (60.539%) and Jackson Stern on Kookaburra Park Ricardo (65.128%).

The day began quite early with the Para Dressage CPEDN classes with four of the five grades represented. The Grade I went to Stella Barton and Croft Cnoc Morris on 51.429%; the Grade II went to Joann Formosa and her new horse Kamber Merfyn on 60.931%; the Grade III went to Emma Booth and Zidane on 70.098%; and the Grade IV went to Matilda Carnegie and Devil’s Chocolate on 66.789%. Tougher tests than the Team Test the day before, but some great results. Well done to all!

In the Young Rider, Junior, U25 and Pony classes there were some great results. The CDN-P Individual Test (Pony) was won by Steendieks Champ of Glory and Jasmine Haynes on 66.982%; the CDN-Y Individual Test (Young Rider) went to Lindsey Ware and the lovely Grand Prix horse Aristede on 68.530%; the CDN-J Individual Test (Junior) went to Hannah Shippen and Yaramee B Bear on 66.667%; and the CDN-U25 Grand Prix went to Jemma Heran and Hedelunds Mefisto on 61.624%.

Today also saw the second round of the young horse and pony classes. The 4YO Young Horse went to Maree Tomkinson on Neo with an impressive 88.2%; the 5YO Young Horse went to Willingapark Emotion, ridden by Brett Parbery for a score of 76.2%; the 6YO Young Horse saw Maree Tomkinson win again with Furst Deluxe, achieving a huge score of 84.4%, with Maree also taking second place on Total Diva with 77.8%; and finally, the 7YO Young Horse saw the very impressive Horizonte De Jeu, ridden by the young Charlie Welsh for a winning score of 70.490%.

To the ponies, and the 4YO Young Pony went to Faye Hinchliffe and Cheraton Mona Lisa on 73.8%; the 5YO Young Pony went to Roseglen Pop Art ridden by Justine Greer for a score of 72.8%; and the 6YO Young Pony went to The Silver Rose and Bettina Kopetzky on 67.4%.
