Dressage & Jumping with the Stars is over for another year, and now it’s time to reflect on a fantastic event that saw the country’s best young dressage and jumping horses battle it out for age group titles — and of course the prestigious Champion of Champions accolades.

For the frozen AI breeding experts at IHB (International Horse Breeders), it was a memorable event in more ways than one. IHB were integral sponsors at the event, and have been for many years. Alongside sponsoring EQ Life’s live stream of the Grand Prix classes, they also sponsored numerous classes.

The Champion of Champions Young Pony class was one such sponsorship. This event was won by the dashing palomino Dynamik Great Expectations; this crowd favourite was owned and ridden by Sancha Butler. In being crowned Champion of Champions Young Dressage Pony, Sancha was awarded an IHB service to Quaterback’s Junior. This stunning chestnut German Riding Pony stallion won the qualification for the 2012 Bundeschampionate in Neustadt-Dosse with the incredible score of 8.67, and is one of the many international stallions on offer in Australia via frozen semen thanks to IHB.

IHB also sponsored the Champion Of Champions Young Dressage Horse, won by the stallion Iresias L — owned by Sarah Hanslow and ridden by Gina Montgomery. This lovely five year old made it back to back Champion of Champions titles at DJWTS, and this year he netted a fabulous prize for his owner — a donated a service to Furstenball, courtesy of IHB and PSI (Performance Sales International).

The Champion of Champions Young Jumping Horse event was also sponsored by IHB, with the owner and rider of winner Cachassini 11 — Sharon Slater — picking up an IHB service to Kanndarco!

IHB-bred horses shine

IHB were more than sponsors at DJWTS this year — many horses bred via their frozen AI service found success on the arenas of Werribee.

IHB were especially proud of Penny Hill Park Sophia, owned by Michelle James and ridden by Emma Hayward; this mare won the 6YO Young Dressage Horse competition. Sophia was bred by Michelle and is by Sir Donnerhall, out of Carrington Park Wenona by Weltruhm.

SPH Renaissance by Royal Hit, ridden by Daniella Dierks and bred/owned by Andrea Beatty, won the 7YO Young Dressage Horse class on 75.9%. Renaissance had already won champion young horse awards at DJWTS previously, and added another this year to cap off an amazing run for his owner and breeder.

Yarramee Fonzie — owned by Sharyn McCombe and ridden by Justine Green — was the co-winner of the 4YO Young Dressage Horse event, finishing on 78.3% with Aber Halo MI. Fonzie, a tall, black and elegant gelding by Firestone and out of a Polansky mare, is a very appealing four year old with quite an amazingly uphill canter. He scored well for all his paces and his rideability was a highlight!
