Sir Dragonet has won the 100th running of the greatest weight-for-age race in Australia, the Cox Plate, for trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.
Glen Boss rode the imported 5 year old Irish stallion by Camelot to the horse’s first win for 535 days. It was Glen Boss’s fourth Cox Plate victory, and trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace’s first.
“This is unbelievable! The Cox Plate was engrained into my psyche from a young age. It’s a special race” Glen Boss said after the win. “He gave me a lovely ride and he was there for me, he was up for the task.”
Armory finished second, ahead of race favourite Russian Camelot in third and Mugatoo in 4th.
