Team Tests run and won at Para Nationals

Friday at the Para Dressage Nationals saw the CPEDI3* Team Tests take place. The Grade V class saw the highest CPEDI3* scores of the day, with Rio Paralympian Lisa Martin winning aboard Juicy Wiggle with a score of 70.775%. The CPEDI3* classes are the first observation event for FEI World Championship selection and provide combinations with a chance to secure FEI MERs as well as scores that address EA Para Dressage Selection Criteria.

FEI MERs for para dressage require riders to have achieved a minimum score of 62% in the Team or Individual Test at a CPEDI3* or above during the qualification period. The Australian selection criteria also requires combinations to provide two Team and two Individual Test scores from selected observation events this year, with scores of 70% and above in particular of interest to selectors.

Second place in the Grade V Team Test went to Dianne Barnes and Cil Dara Cosmic on 68.256%, third went to Melissa Cannon and PPH Zeppelin on 64.845%, and fourth went to Claire Skerman riding Cognac Falcon.

The Grade IV class went to Helen Batson and Fayani on 67.167%, while Kylie Christian was a close second with Bellaire Cannavaro on 67.083% and Zoe Vorenas finished third with Wis Forte on 65.833%.

In the Grade III, it was Kelly Frost and Highfield Luda Dijon who claimed the win on 62.647%. The Grade II was a close contest, with Maddison Cooke and Byalee Magic II winning on a score of 66.919%; Joann Formosa was the runner up on Lucifers Lovelight with 66.566%. In the Grade I, Stella Barton and Falcon Disco Hit finished in first place on 65.714%, while Marnie Clapham and Cherrymount Rhetorik was second on 64.286% and Luke Eaton was third with Ruched on 58.274%.

The Para Dressage Nationals are being held as part of the Leader Equine Dressage Spectacular at Boneo Park, an event run by Carlton Performance Horses that also offers EA level para classes, EA Prelim to Grand Prix classes, and even HRCAV divisions. Competition continues over the weekend.
