The world renowned 19-year-old Dutch warmblood stallion, Totilas, has made a public appearance in hand at the 2019 KWPN Stallion Licensing show, in the Netherlands on the 1st of February.

The 17.1 hand stallion is best known for his competition career with Edward Gal, with whom he achieved numerous world records (inc. a 92.30% in the Freestyle) and a clean sweep of three gold medals at the 2010 World Equestrian Games. The pair worked together from 2006 until late 2010 when the horse was sold to Schockemöhle and Linsenhoff; German rider Matthias Rath took over the reins, but never emulated Gal’s success with the horse.

Totilas retired from competition life after being diagnosed with periostitis of the coronet band on his left hind hoof following team bronze at the 2015 European Championships. He was retired from the sport after an official statement from the German Equestrian Federation, on the 18th of August 2015.

The stallion was presented in hand during a presentation at the Stallion Licensing show, alongside his offspring Toto Jr., Trafalgar and Total U.S. Edward Gal rode a number of horses at the event, and took some time to catch up with his old friend, who is now 19 years of age.
