Update on Vicki Roycroft
Following her hospitalisation on Saturday, three-time Olympian Vicki Roycroft has been up walking and talking, according to a statement released Tuesday by Rona von Stein, via Vicki’s partner Neil Trickett.
Vicki suffered a medical episode while preparing to take part in a show jumping competition at the Sydney Royal Easter Show over the weekend, and was subsequently taken to Concord Hospital.
Following surgery over the weekend, Vicki – who turned 70 on Monday – is now awake, walking and talking. Rona von Stein released the following statement on behalf of Neil Trickett at 5pm Tuesday evening:
“Vicki continues to amaze her medical team. She has been up and walking, talking to everyone and the demands are coming. Her first demand was to be allowed to go home (of course!), which concerned staff enough that they phoned Neil last night after he’d returned home, to just calm her down. Of course we know that’ll work… Temporarily!
“She still has a long road ahead to recover, but she’s set on that journey with her metaphorical car in fourth gear and foot flat to the floor on the gas. We’ve just got to get her back to second gear (first is too much of a stretch), and ease up on the accelerator a bit. If at all possible!”
Equestrian Life wishes Vicki all the very best with her continued recovery and we look forward to further positive updates.
