Australian rider Warwick McLean is celebrating after winning his first European Big Tour at the Olomouc CDI3* over the weekend.

It has been a golden weekend for the Australian riders at Olomouc, with Warwick placing second in the Grand Prix on Friday night and then winning the Special last night with a score of 69.298%.

Simone Pearce has also gotten off to an incredible start with her new ride, Fiderdance, winning the Grand Prix and placing third in the Special on a score of 69.213.

It was an incredibly close contest between the top three placings in the Grand Prix Special, with Austria’s Peter Gmoser and Banderas 7 coming in second place on 69.277%.

Speaking to Equestrian Life, Warwick McLean said, “It’s been a really good show so far. Hendrix on the first day in the Grand Prix did a really nice, smooth round, I think it was even better than the Special. I didn’t quite get awarded the points that I could’ve but it is what it is.

In the Special, he was really good and it was also a mistake-free round. Both rounds were really nice and mistake-free which was really good.”

Warwick also came away with a win in the Intermediate A class on the 10-year-old gelding Jack 483 with a score of 69.147%.

“Jack also did a good round in the Inter A and I think he’ll be a good one for the future,” said Warwick.

“It was a nice show riding alongside Simone. We have a nice sportsmanship-like support between us.”
