24-year-old Rebecca Chisholm and her mother, Wendy were riding together in Dubai on May 10th when her horse spooked and took off. After gaining consciousness after the fall, Rebecca said to her mother, “Mum, I am dying. I love you.”

Rebecca suffered life-threatening injuries from the accident, which resulted in her being airlifted to the government-run Rashid Hospital

Rebecca’s friends and family in the United Kingdom have been raising money to try and cover her medical bills, as her medical insurance through the Dubai School she taught at wouldn’t cover the accident. Rebecca’s friends and family managed to raise 60,000 pounds.

It has now been confirmed that the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will pay the rest of the medical bills till she is discharged.

A statement from the family’s fundraising page said “His Highness has offered to pay for all of Becca’s medical costs until she is discharged from Rashid Hospital. We will be forever thankful to him and his country.”
