Further tragedies have rocked Santa Anita Racecourse – bringing the total equine fatalities to 29 since December 2018.
Truffalino, a 3-year-old filly has now become the 29th horse to die since Santa Anita began its winter-spring meet in late December. the filly reportedly collapsed of an apparent heart attack during a race last Sunday.
The track managed a six went stint without incident before mid-May, however multiple horses have now died since then – bringing the track back into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
Track officials are yet to identify the underlying cause of deaths, with soil experts not discovering anything unusual following testing.
