Saturday brought yet another mixed bag of Victorian spring weather to Boneo Park for the Stable Ground Australian Dressage Championships, with wind, rain, and sunshine all on offer.

The first of the freestyle tests for this event on the main arena, the CDI-W Grand Prix Freestyle, took place in the afternoon, and what a class it was. There were many outstanding performances, none more so than Melissa Galloway and Windermere J’Obei W who posted a huge score of 79.865% to claim the win. It was a PB for Melissa and a New Zealand CDI Grand Prix Freestyle record – a real thrill to watch!

Mary Hanna and her stunning new Grand Prix horse Ivanhoe were second on 76.61%, while David McKinnon and the relatively inexperienced Forlan achieved a PB of 76.485% to finish third. Charlotte Phillips and CP Dresden also posted a PB, scoring 74.86% to finish fourth. A truly amazing class!

The CDI-U25 Grand Prix preceded the CDI-W on the main arena and it was a close race between Kate Kyros riding Chemistry and Jessica Dertell with Syriana. Kate finished in first place on 69.897%, while Jessica was just behind her in second on 69.667%.

The CDN Grand Prix Freestyle took place in the indoor arena, with Pauline Carnovale and Corinna claiming another win on 67.908%, while the Inter A/B Freestyle saw Dave McKinnon and Estupendo make it a clean sweep of the Medium Tour classes with a win on 74.458%. The pair were crowned the overall Medium Tour Champions.

The Inter I Freestyle went to Brett Parbery on Iresias L with a score of 74.742%, however it was Robbie McKinnon and Hollands Bend Rococo who won the overall Small Tour Championship, with Brett and Iresias the Reserve Champions.

The Advanced Freestyle saw further success for Robbie McKinnon, this time with SPH Fortino. The pair scoring 76.117% to win the class.

The CDI-Y Young Rider Individual Test saw a brilliant performance from Kate Kyros and Intro K, with the pair posting an impressive score of 75.196% to claim the win, while the CDI-J Junior Individual Test saw Tia McKenzie and Phenomenon back up their victory from yesterday, scoring 67.647%. The CDI-Ch Children Team Test went to Rosemary Sutherland and Cherishwood Dream On with a big score of 78.425%.

The CDI-P Pony Individual Test went to yesterday’s winners, Abby Weel and Reitland’s Obama, with the pair scoring 70.586%, while the Pony Inter I Freestyle saw Toni Webb and Salient Park Prince record win with 70.442%.

The Pony Elementary Championship was awarded to Daluxe BHI for Nicole McOwn, while the Pony Advanced Freestyle went to San Sebastien, ridden by Bettina Kopetzky with a score of 64.408%.

The overall Elementary Championship went to Justine Greer and the beautiful Daily Dancer.
