Whether you are a spectator at the Mitsubishi Motors Australian International Three Day Event, soaking up the action in the idyllic surrounds of the Adelaide Parklands, or enjoying the Equestrian Life livestream from the comfort of your own home, this year there is an new technology in play to bring you closer to the sport you love.
Eventing is considered a very unpredictable sport, however since SAP and EquiRatings worked together to develop the EquiRatings Prediction Centre, they began to see how the winners could be predicted. Showcased at Adelaide for the first time, this new piece of technology has been hugely popular in Europe and the US this year.
The EquiRatings Predictions Centre is a statistical model that forecasts the results of major eventing competitions before and during the event. Pre-competition and post each phase, it simulates the competition 10,000 times, and updates its projected leaderboard and the estimated probability of victory, podium or top 10 for each pair. This year, EquiRatings predicted Hazel Shannon and WillingaPark Clifford had a 16% chance of victory leading pre competition. At the conclusion of the cross country phase, this percentage has now soared to 74%!

SAP Spectator Judging
Equestrian Life’s live stream of the CCI5* is powered by SAP, and the introduction of SAP Spectator Judging allowed spectators to test their judging skills in the dressage phase against other spectators and the judges, with live scoring graphics shown via our live stream for an interactive experience. In today’s show jumping phase, Spectator Judging will again be in force, and participants have the chance to win Spectator Judging’s amazing Starboards. Amongst other things, you can use the app to predict which fence will attract the most penalties, how many clear rounds there will be, and to choose your favourite rider!
The Spectator Judging App can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play Store.
Tune in to Equestrian Life’s live stream commencing 12:50pm today! We’ll be streaming the ATCO World Cup Qualifier, followed by the Mitsubishi CCI5* Show Jumping. Watch via our Live TV Page or on the Equestrian Life Facebook page!
