A one-in-a-million horse, Andrew Nicholson's Avebury won a record three consecutive Burghley Horse Trials - as well as Barbury Castle CIC3* four times.
Over the course of his career, 'Buddy' ran 71 times with Andrew and 11 with his wife, Wiggy, who competed him at novice level. He won 27 times and was placed on numerous occasions - what a record!
Sadly, Avebury had to be put down recently due to an agressive tumour - just months after he entered retirement.
