And Now It's On To Eventing

Well finally my eventing season is under way!  After the XC at Sydney Weekend eventing was cancelled, I planned to do Silver Hills 2* but with low entries this class was cancelled too.  I didn't want Albury to be my first event of the year, so I competed at Silver Hills in the 1 star and we came away with a win!  Very exciting and we came away with not 1 but 2 rugs!  Not only did I win but a horse I sold less than 3 weeks ago won the junior intro with his new owner!

Silver Hills was a great warmup and the following week we headed to Albury to compete in the CIC 2*.  Cav was a bit tense in the dressage so our score wasn't as good as I hoped.  I was happy with how Cav jumped but I messed up a bit and made a wrong turn... I was a bit angry with myself but had to move on and focus on the XC. I competed at Albury in the 2 star last year but there were lots of different jumps and I thought it was a pretty tough course.  Cav was great on the XC and we came home clear which was all I was aiming for!  A few time faults but actually nobody made the time in the 2 star.

The following week we headed back to Albury for the Barry Hillier Horse Trials which is run by Wodonga Pony Club but they also have open classes.  I thought it was a great opportunity for the young horses.  My 4yo buckskin warmblood Spirit competed in the Grade 3 and he won the dressage with 89%, they were being very generous.  We were winning by 4 penalties so the pressure was on to produce clear rounds on the XC and SJ. And we did just that, so Spirit wins his first rug!

This weekend we are back to the dressage arena for the Young Dressage Championships.  Young is my local comp so we will be pretty busy in the lead up and helping out with all the organising, i'm the stable manager and I'm competing 6 horses so ill be pretty busy on the weekend too.  I riding 22 dressage tests from Prelim to Grand Prix, so the biggest test will be remembering them all.

But there is no rest for the wicked and after Young we head to Sydney for the 3DE were Cav will compete in the CIC 2 star and then the following week Stella, Jackson and Zac have the Sydney CDI.  Looking forward to both, and then maybe afterwards my life will get slightly less crazy!

Until next time,
Megan.
