Andrew Hoy on the podium at CHIO Aachen

By Equestrian Life

Australian eventer Andrew Hoy has placed second in the CCI4* SAP Cup at CHIO Aachen riding Paula and David Evans’ Vassily de Lassos. The pair produced a brilliant performance on the cross country today, cruising around to finish just one second over the time allowed; they were the fastest on course across the entire field. With just 0.4 time faults added to yesterday’s dressage score, they finished on 30.50.

The pair were 16th after the dressage and ninth after the showjumping before their cross country masterclass proved once again that Vassily is one of the best jumping horses in the competition.

Sandra Auffarth and Viamant du Matz won the event on 29.5 after overnight leaders Michael Jung and fischerChipmunk FRH picked up a missed flag penalty on cross country. Brit Tom McEwen and Toledo de Kerser were third on 32.80.

Congratulations Andrew!
