Australian Eventers are ready to ride at the FEI World Championships, Pratoni

The Australian Eventing Team horses have passed the first horse inspection at Pratoni and are now poised to compete in the dressage phase over the next two days.

Australia’s team consists of:

Vassily de Lassos and Andrew Hoy, groomed by Clementine Girardeau

Scuderia 1918 Don Quidam and Kevin McNab, groomed by Lucy Hartley

Virgil and Shane Rose, groomed by Jamie Atkinson

WillingaPark Clifford and Hazel Shannon, groomed by Bronte Buttel

Shenae Lowings and Bold Venture will compete as individuals, groomed by Olivia Barton.

89 horses and riders from 26 nations will contest the dressage phase. One horse was withdrawn from the competition at the first horse inspection; Mexico’s sole entry Cecilia, ridden by Daniel Moguel. Two other horses were held for further inspection and later passed; Ruy Fonseca's Brazilian team horse Ballypatrick SRS and Swedish team member Aminda Ingulfson's Joystick.

Shane Rose will be the first Australian rider to contest the dressage phase with his Tokyo Olympics partner Virgil. In 14th position on the draw, the pair will ride at 11:29am on Thursday 15th (7:29pm AEST), while Hazel Shannon and WillingaPark Clifford have drawn 36th position and will compete at 3:59pm (11:59pm AEST).

The remaining Australian riders will take part in Session 2 on Friday 16th September. Shenae Lowings and Bold Venture will ride at 9:30am (5:30pm AEST), Kevin McNab and Scuderia 1918 Don Quidam at 12:24pm (8:24pm AEST) and Andrew Hoy and Vassily de Lassos at 5:02pm (1:02am AEST).

The Ground Jury for the Championships includes Christina Klingspor (SWE, president), Peter Gray (CAN) and Christian Steiner (AUT).
