British riders ahead in the children’s division in Hagen

By media release

In 1995, the age-group “children” was introduced by the world riders’ association FEI, enabling 12- to 14-year old show jumping riders to compete on big horses. The first German team participated at the 2009 European Championships for Children, and the first German Federal Champion was nominated in this division in 2010. At the International Nations Cup Tournament for young riders in Hagen, the participants in the children’s division fought for the first ribbons at Future Champions, a division that has been part of the sports program since 2011.

The British riders were the fastest at the CSIO Children. Jodie Hall Mcateer took the lead, she went clear with her KWPN-gelding Baringa II in 33.43 seconds. Her compatriot Scarlett Charles, the last starter of the contest, tried to turn the tide one more time, she fought with everything she had to finally finish second with her 15-year-old Sander in 34.47 seconds. Third place went to the German Laura Hetzel from Goch who partipated with her grey mare Polly Pocket.

Victory in the opening competition in the children’s division on Tuesday evening went to Elisa Mellec from France with Sandokahn Rumel. Best German rider was the 13-year-old local hero from Hagen, Max Haunhorst who finished sixth with Florida Lady Ixes.

Four-legged Future Champions

The first dressage tests started on Wednesday in the Almased Dressage Stadium at the Hof Kasselmann. The four-legged futurity prospects presented all their skills in the qualifier for the DKB-Federal Championships of five-year-old dressage horses. Eight futurity prospects in total won the ticket for Warendorf. Three golden ribbons were awarded in the two divisions. The Hagen rider Eva Möller achieved the best result with the Fürst Romancier-daughter Flirtfaktor and a final score of 8.6. First place in the second division went to Ann-Christin Wienkamp from Ladbergen with Samoura M by San Amour and Tessa Frank from Bad Zwischenahn with the Westphalian stallion Romulus von Nymphenburg by Rock Forever I. Both finished with a final score of 8.3.
