Brrrr, it’s cold outside - your best friends deserve to be warm too!

Horse lovers spend a lot of time outdoors and most of them enjoy the constant companionship of their dog.

Nature has provided many canine breeds with a fur coat that is ideally suited to winter weather as they grow a thick “downy” under coat, to insulate and protect them from the cold.

However, some shorthaired breeds have little natural protection and need to dress appropriately for outdoor activities… just like us humans!

Be sure to research the origin and climatic conditions of your dog’s breed so as to understand how adaptable or sensitive to cold they are likely to be. You should also pay special attention to your dogs’ responses to a cold snap and identify any unusual reluctance to join you in outdoor fun. A forlorn and miserable demeanour may indicate that your dog is not coping with the cold and would appreciate some help to make the winter months more bearable.

Be a good friend to your best friends and choose Eurohunter Dog Rugs to keep chills at bay. The stylish designs are sure to make a statement about your affection and care.

STOP PRESS:  Following reports from Australian farmers who are experiencing the coldest winter for many years. Graziers are using the appropriate sized dog rugs to protect new born lambs, calves and foals that would have otherwise been lost or compromised by exposure to the arctic temperatures and high wind-chill factor. 2016 stock losses have been greatly reduced and the initial investment will protect young stock and future profits for many years to come.

Note - It is very important to check farm animals daily to ensure that they are safe and the rug is in place with the straps adjusted snugly against their body.

To find the best Eurohunter dog rug size to fit your chilly friends, measure from the base of the neck to the end of back/start of the tail as shown. The sizing chart (available on Page 104 of the 2016 Saddleworld Product Guide) will help, but remember, it is only a guide.   If you’re unsure about the suitable size rug, particularly if you are fitting a larger chest, or broader body and allowing for thicker coat, a slightly large size may be appropriate.
