The German team aiming to defend both team and individual gold medals in the three-day event at London 2012 has been named with Ingrid Klimke, (FRH Butts Abraxxas), Dirk Schrade (Hop And Skip or King Artus) and Peter Thomsen (Horseware's Barny) joining certainties Michael Jung and Sandra Auffarth.

The final three selections were confirmed after the three-star international at Aachen, Germany, on Saturday.

Jung, with La Biosthetique Sam, and Auffarth (Opgun Luovo) were already assured of team selection.

While they won both the team and individual gold in Beijing in 2008, they would be the current double Olympic champions but for the technical elimination incurred by Bettina Hoy in Athens in 2004 for commencing her show jumping round before the judges' start-bell.
