Andrew Hoy has announced the retirement of his colourful eventing ride, Hasenacher Jack Sparrow.

The talented 11-year-old Irish Sport Horse was successfully campaigned by Andrew Hoy, and competed at numerous events around Europe, including Millstreet, Burgham, Blenheim Horse Trials, plus others.

The eventing superstar, who has gained quite a large following has been based with Andrew Hoy since 2014. The decision to retire the eventer was made by both Andrew Hoy and Hasenacher Jack Sparrow’s owner, Barbara Keller after sustaining a few small injuries.

Andrew Hoy shared a post on Instagram , which read:

Following an unfortunate setback followed by smaller injuries, his owner and I have decided that it is in Jack´s best interest to retire him from the top level sport. He has had such a wonderful following over the years, he has touched so many hearts and now it is time for us to give something back to him!

Following our decision, Hasenacher Jack Sparrow has since travelled to Hasenacher Stud in Switzerland. He has arrived safely in Herrliberg, settled in well and is now enjoying some time off in the field – with the most stunning views of lake Zurich and the Swiss mountains.

I can´t wait to see my dear friend Jack again over the winter months when visiting Hasenacher Stud – he will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Enjoy your holiday, Jack – see you soon!”

EQ Life wishes Hasenacher Jack Sparrow a very happy retirement!
