High Performance Eventing Squad Riders who are based in Europe took the opportunity this week to shake off the winter chill and thaw out during a jumping clinic held in Brussels, Belgium with jumping legend Nelson Pessoa.

The focus of the clinic was on improving technique and the musculoskeletal function of the horses. There was a lot of practical work on balancing the body  of both horse and rider, approach to the fences, harnessing impulsion and improving the horse's shape over a fence.

In their down time the riders also had a chance to hear some extraordinary stories from Mr Pessoa's legendary career, and take in his World Class training philosophy --- everything requires precision!

Equestrian Australia Hall of Fame inductee Andrew Hoy had five horses in attendance at the clinic, including Vassily de Lassos, who finished 4th at last year’s World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina.

“My horses and I gained so much experience, inspiration and knowledge – we never stop learning! A very big thank you to the most fabulous coach Nelson Pessoa for his precious time, dedication and support and to Equestrian Australia for making the training experience possible” said Hoy.
