Reigning Olympic eventing gold medallist, Michael Jung, has announced that his first choice for the 2016 Rio di Janeiro Olympic Games, fischerTakinou, will be unfit to compete and has subsequently been withdrawn.

In a Facebook post, Michael has expressed disappointment in the circumstances, stating that his 2016 Aachen CHIO Individual Winning mount, fischerTakinou, has developed an infection that will not heal before The Games are set to begin. Michael states that the decision was made in regard to fischerTakinou's longevity in the "jouney and not [just] the competition".

Michael Jung's 2012 London Olympic Games mount, La Biosthetique Sam FBW, will now step up to the plate in fischerTakinou's place. La Biosthetique Sam FBW carried Michael to double gold victory in London and no doubt all eyes will be on this formidble combination to repeat the performance, out of their recent Burghley and Badminton wins.
